Gantry | The gantry is the “bridge” which moves from rear to front over the engraving table. | (link machine components) |

Spindle carriage | The spindle carriage is the assembly which contains the engraving spindle. The carriage moves from left to right over the gantry. | (link machine components) |
IEC type connector | (uitleg)
ethernet cable | The ethernet cable contains two RJ-45 connectors. A CAT6A ethernet cable has to be used between the PC and the Cyborg X-300.
Line height | The line height is measured between the upper horizontal vector and the lower horizontal vector of the reference character “E” of the used font, even if the text does not contain an E.
Base line | The baseline is the distance between the top border of the plate and the lower horizontal vector of the reference character “E” of the used font, even if the text does not contain an E.
(Left and right) margins | The left margin is the space between the left plate border and the left side of the imaginary rectangle which delimits the available space for a specific text line. The right margin is the space between the right plate border and the right side of the imaginary rectangle which delimits the available space for a specific text line.
Justification | If a text is shorter than the available space for it, then it is possible to align the text to the left or to the right, or to center it within that virtually available space.
Condensation | Condensation is when the width of the characters on a text line is reduced. This can be done automatically because otherwise, the text would not fit into the available space. When using a conventional word processor, when entering a text, it will automatically include a soft return at the end of each line as soon as the length of the text exceeds the available space between the margins. When text is entered on a text line in Symmetry, however, your cursor will not jump automatically to a next line. Symmetry will try to condense all text into the available space, by starting to condense the text as soon as the available space is full. You can also manually modify the condensation, for aesthetic purposes, to create a more balanced job layout, for example. When a job contains multiple text lines, changing the condensation for one text line might also change the condensation on other text lines, depending on the condensation mode which you have set in Symmetry for that specific job.
Intercharacter space | Refers to the space between characters. This space can be modified independently from the character width.
Italicisation | (uitleg)
Small caps font | A font where the lowercase characters have the same form as uppercase characters, but are smaller. Cipher fonts that are small caps are: Trophy Block and Futura 1L; TrueType small caps fonts are Bank Gothic and quite a few Copperplate fonts. |
