Replacing the spindle belt

Important notes:

  1. Since the belt between the spindle motor and the spindle is a timing belt, it is not necessary to tension the belt. The teeth on the belt will prevent slipping and hence loss of rpms.
  2. The advantage of a non tensioned belt is also that the spindle motor bearings are not being put under lateral pressure.

On the above image it is clearly visible that there is no strain on the timing belt.

Follow the 4 steps below to take off the timing belt from the spindle.

1. Spindle with cutter and cutter knob
2. spindle with cutter and cuuter knob removed
3. Rotate spindle clockwise and simultaneously move the belt up on the spindle pulley
4. Finally the timing belt will come off the spindle pulley.

When putting on a new belt, first put it around the spindle motor pulley, then rotate it clockwise over the spindle pulley.

Continue to tensioning the timing belts.
