Installation procedure
Step 1: Launch the installer
Insert the supplied memory stick into the USB port of your computer.
Browse the Symmetry memory stick and doubleclick on the file ‘Symmetry-2.4.0.5.exe“. The number which you see after the word ‘Symmetry’ indicates the version number.
Step 2: Choose the proper install location.
As a default, the installer software will suggest “C:\Symmetry” as the installation folder. If you want or if the security policy within your organisations requires, you can also install the software in any other folder like “C:\Program Files\Symmetry” or any folder of your choice. In order to do so, click the “Browse…” button and select the folder of your choice.
Then click “Next >”.
Step 3: Choose components.
At this stage, the only component you can select is the Symmetry software itself. As this is required, this is option is greyed out, and you cannot deselect it. Left-click the “Install” button.
The green progress bar will fill until the installation is completed.
Then click “Close”.
Step 4: Create a shortcut icon on your desktop.
Open Windows Explorer and browse to the Symmetry program folder. From within this folder, right click on the ‘Symmetry.exe’ file and click on the ‘create shortcut’ option. Then drag this new shortcut icon to your desktop.
At this stage, the Symmetry software is fully operational, except for the output of your engraving files to the machine. Basically, you can create, open, and modify jobs as you please, but you won’t be able to engrave them. In order to be able to engrave, you need to register your software license.
Registration
Symmetry provides you with a unique Engraver Code. This is the Mac address of the machine controller. The Mac address is a code consisting of letters and digits, which is unique to any computer device. As such, the code is not transferable from one computer to another.
Every Cyborg engraving machine is supplied with a memory stick containing the release code for your specific machine.
Step 1: Preparation.
Make sure your computer is connected to the engraving machine and the ethernet parameters have been set properly.
Step 2: Open the registration window.
Launch the Symmetry software and click the “New Job” button. A new job screen is opened, along with the “Autolayout” window. Close the “Autolayout” by clicking the [X] in the upper right corner, then left-clicking on the
Help menu, then on the “
Register components” option.
Step 3: Enter the release code:
You will see a code after the text “Engraver Code:” In the example below this code is 682719E4B5F2. This is the Mac address of the controller inside your engraver. This is a unique code. There is no other engraver, printer, pc or any other computerized device with the same mac address worldwide. So the engraver code you see will be different for each individual engraving machine.
In order to obtain your release code, you need to submit the
Engraver code to your reseller, who will then generate the corresponding
Release code.
1)
On the memory stick you received with your engraving machine, you will find an image which shows your engraver code and the release code. This release code is unique to the Engraver code in the registration window. Type this code into the “Insert release code:” field, as show in the following image.
After having entered the release code click the ‘Apply’ button. Symmetry will inform you that the software is now registered, and that you will have to close the program and restart it in order to work with the registered licence.
