"Insert Line" menu option

This method provides the user with mouse-oriented control to create a new text line and specify its size and position on the plate.

How it works

By clicking the left mouse button anywhere on a plate layout and dragging the mouse cursor away from the starting point, a rectangular dashed line will appear. As long as you keep your index on the mouse button, there will be a text visible alongside the starting point of the rectangle, indicating the exact width and height.

Typically you will click and drag the mouse from the top left corner to the bottom right corner of the proposed line, but one can work with any combination of opposite corners. Releasing the left mouse button will create the line.

Access through...

There are two ways to access this feature:

  • Line menu - Insert Line option.
  • Insert Line shortcut .
If the Insert Line shortcut is not visible, most likely your cursor is currently in one of the current text lines. Clicking on the blank area of the plate, outside any of the existing line contours, will toggle the shortcut menu to the line shortcuts. Among them, the Insert Line shortcut.
